Working with clay is a joy and a passion

I started Jo Ceramics in 2022 after a lifetime of being a part-time artist and spending years learning to work with clay.

 

I initially thought that wheel throwing was my thing, but once I discovered hand building, I was in love. I could make anything, of any shape, in any colour - absolute heaven! My plan is to go back to the wheel again this year and combine both techniques.

My style developed through my love of my surroundings on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Some of the pictures in the gallery show my favourite beach with the best rock pools and beautiful rugged landscape. Any life stresses disappear when I am there.

My larger works are currently only available at the markets I attend, mainly in the North Sydney area but sometimes a little further afield when we can combine a family weekend away with a festival or event. Have a check on the Upcoming Markets page for where I will be next.
